Deposed Madagascan President Marc Ravalomanana is currently in the country for an undisclosed mission.
The president arrived at the airport yesterday afternoon (23th March).This was confirmed by Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Clifford Mamba.
He stated that the overthrown president was here to see Chairman of the organ Troika His Majesty King Mswati III.
« There can only be one issue that would be discussed and that is bringing peace in Madagascar. ».
Mamba stated that he was not sure how long Ravalomanana would be in the country. This follows a troika meeting held at the Royal Villas last Thursday.
At that summit, new President Andry Rajoelina was denounced by SADC.
Southern African leaders are expected to finalise a regional economic aid package for Zimbabwe and discuss possible sanctions against Madagascar in South Africa next week, SA Department of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa said.
The African Union suspended Madagascar last week and the United Nations have criticised Rajoelina's power grab.
